Planning grant for the Dementia Friendly Massachusetts Initiative: The Dementia Friendly Massachusetts Initiative is a collaboration of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA), Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JF&CS) and nine organizations, together, that are convening a Summit on May 9th.  The Summit is the first phase of engagement of multiple sectors including health and human services, public safety, local and state government, business, and faith communities to inform the developing age-friendly infrastructure on how to address the needs of people in their communities living with dementia and their care partners. “Dementia friendly” communities are safe, informed, and respectful with regard to those affected by Alzheimer’s or a related disorder. The lead from Dementia Friendly America will be the guest speaker to present insights from early adopter states and regions, and will also facilitate break-out sessions among the participants in developing an approach for the Commonwealth. Phase 2 of this work will be to take the input/results from the Summit and develop concrete action steps to work with communities to start or scale dementia friendly initiative across the state. Tufts Health Plan Foundation grant.
