Canton, MA Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan today announced nine grants through its philanthropic arm, the Point32Health Foundation. The grants, directed by Point32Health’s Colleague Resource Groups (CRG), will go to nine nonprofit community organizations in the region to help improve health outcomes. In addition to the grants, colleagues will engage with the organizations through volunteer service or other opportunities throughout the coming year.

“Our colleagues care deeply about our communities and the issues impacting them, and they bring perspectives that help us better understand where we can make a difference,” said Peter Church, chief people & culture officer at Point32Health. “Giving our Colleague Resource Groups a voice in where we show up helps extend our Community of Care to the vibrant neighborhoods and people we serve.”

The Point32Health Foundation builds on a tradition of service and giving to support communities throughout the region. As the philanthropic arm of Point32Health, the parent company of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, the Point32Health Foundation is a nonprofit that has its own board of directors and dedicated source of funding. All grants and matching gifts to community-based organizations come exclusively from an invested fund to support the Foundation’s work. This helps ensure that the Foundation has a consistent source of funding to help strengthen communities year after year.

“Point32Health colleagues worked alongside Foundation staff to identify a community issue that reflects their group’s affinity, researched nonprofits in the region, reviewed proposals and ultimately made a funding recommendation,” said Beth Chandler, executive director of the Point32Health Foundation. “This partnership helps colleagues develop a deeper understanding of community needs, nonprofit leadership and the role philanthropy can play in advancing positive change.”
